Organizing with colorful vintage finds

OK, so I went a little crazy last night on Etsy. No, I'm not talking about charging up the credit cards or dipping into the mortgage money! I finally created my own treasury after seeing a few on other blogs. I "shopped" for colorful vintage finds since I'm finding lately that I need to be better organized. I figured, what better way to cure the organizational blues than by looking for fun vintage supplies?

Man, I had no idea making those treasuries were so fun. I spent quite a bit of time pondering my choices, often pulling a few out when I found other, more exciting items. My budget is honestly quite tight right now so I will likely hold off on buying any of these off Etsy, but I can certainly dream of finding any of these items during my thrifting jaunts. I would really be so happy if I found a red Mega Man (maybe because my husband has red hair?).

The truth is that I can put all of these colorful vintage wares to good use. Are any of these any that you could see yourself using? Find the treasury with all the yummy links here.

Oh boy!!!! I love the orange metal basket, the 70's orange/patterned needlework craft case, the red head with paintbrushes in it, and especially the red ottoman.

Great treasury Minnie!

I'm so glad you did this, because I had NO idea what a treasury was, even though I've seen and clicked on them before. I kind of figured that this is what it was, but I wasn't sure if the 'organizer' has anything to do with the actual sales or if it is purely for fun... and to have a nice 'inspiration list' for future buys/finds. Now that I know, I love the idea of putting one together!

And I do love yours as well- what a great idea- vintage/organization items! I just read (on a blog) the other day, something to the effect of "I was searching for an old cereal display box." I thought, 'How does everyone know what they're searching for when thifting??' I always thought you just "bump" into great finds. THIS, however, would be a perfect way to do the *searching first, and then either buy it, or use it as inspiration to have a better idea of what you're looking for! Thanks for sharing:).

What a fun (and frugal) idea to cure the shopping bug! I must try it soon. :) I love that orange basket, too!

I haven't tried making a treasury yet but it looks like fun and I LOVE browsing on Etsy. I really like the items you've found - I always seem to come across so many cool vintage items only to discover they can't be shipped to Australia :( Love that red basket!

Oh, I see that red basket has captured everyone's heart!

Torrie, Girl, hang with me and I'll show you the ins and outs of thrifting. With kids no less! I don't usually go thrifting w/anything specific in mind, maybe a general idea of what I need. I do lust for things and happen upon a few of them from time to time but I always consider it a lucky coincidence.

Vanessa and Amanda, Yes, making these treasuries is super-easy, fun and addictive. I'm already thinking of ideas for others. I also think it's a great way to show support for entrepreneurs.

I actually had those little yellow bins for my hairclips when growing up! And I've been looking for an orange wire basket since I saw one in a magazine years ago. You did a great job putting this treasury together:)
